Prof. RENGARAJ Selvaraj., Ph.D., FRSC, FICC., FIAAM., is a distinguished Chemist, educator and research leader, who has dedicated over two decades to advancing Nanotechnology, Sustainable Technologies in Water Treatment, Energy Systems and Environmental Protection. He currently serves as Professor of Analytical and Applied Environmental Chemistry in the Department of Chemistry at Sultan Qaboos University, where he has been instrumental in shaping both the academic and research landscape of the Institution. Prof. Rengaraj Selvaraj holds a Ph.D in Chemistry from Anna University, Chennai, INDIA and Fellow of Royal Society of Chemistry (FRSC). His scientific portfolio comprises over 125 peer-reviewed publications, more than 9500 citations, and H-index above 37, placing his consistently among the top 2% of best researcher and scientists globally ranked by Stanford University, USA for both career-long and recent research impact.  Throughout his career, Prof. Rengaraj Selvaraj has received over 500000 US$ in competitive funding (HMTF, MoHERI, SQU-QU, SQU-UAEU, SQU-SA and Internal Grants), leading multi-institutional and industry-linked projects aligned with national priorities such as clean water, energy efficiency and climate change. Prof. Rengaraj is especially renowned for his research work on Nanotechnology, Hydrogen Generation, separation of oil and water, CO2 removal and reduction, advanced water purification techniques, many of which have direct applications in arid and oil rich regions such as the Gulf. Prof. Rengaraj has mentored and supervised 2 Postdoctoral Fellow, 5 Ph.D students and 10 M.Sc students and over 40 B.Sc final year project students and played pivotal role in supporting young Omani faculties and researchers through structured mentoring, training and grant development support. Prof. Rengaraj Selvaraj’s accolades include the Sultan Qaboos University Best Teacher Award, Best Researcher Award, Best Publication award and Best Supervisor award from Middle East Desalination Research Centre (MEDRC), recognizing his scientific influence and institutional impact. He is also an invited plenary, keynote speaker at International Conferences and serves on Editorial Boards of Leading National and International Journals. His work embodies a synergy between excellence, real world application and societal relevance. Recently University of South Africa, Johannesburg appointed Prof. Rengaraj as Professor Extraordinaries as honorary position. Prof. Rengaraj has received Eminent Scientist Award from Indian Council of Chemists in the year 2023 and also Received Analytical Scientist Award and Dr. Athawale Award from Indian Society of Analytical Scientists (ISAS) in the year 2024 and 2025 respectively.
